IS IT WORTH PAYING FOR GAS BOILER SERVICING?

GAS BOILER SERVICING

Sooner or later, the boiler has to be replaced. They spent a long time choosing, paid a lot for the boiler itself and its installation, and then they also offered to fork out extra money for service. And seeing your indecisiveness, they threaten you with all sorts of punishments, such as the one that will make you lose your warranty. This usually works, because so much money has already been invested, what if something goes wrong? Let’s figure out whether it’s really necessary to shell out your hard-earned money for service. Or is this still a “divorce”?

The main thing is to install it correctly

When purchasing a heating unit, the first thing you should do before you shell out money is read the conditions in the technical documentation under which a warranty is possible. It clearly describes how to install the equipment to later be entitled to warranty service.

Be sure to check that the seller fills out the warranty card for you and issues all documents confirming payment.

And then it gets more interesting: any data sheet for such devices talks about annual maintenance, and they will confidently tell you that this is a service contract for which you need to pay extra.

Is it necessary to pay for work that is unlikely to be done by anyone?

Sounds harsh, right? But let’s face the facts. So, you are threatened with no warranty without annual service. The service contract, if it costs at least a couple of thousand, would not be such a burden for the buyer. But there is a monopoly here: there is only one organization licensed for such work in your city, at most three if it is a big city. They understand that you have nowhere to go, and you will agree to their terms. And here it is, the final cost of “pleasure” is from 10 to 15 thousand rubles. And this is without the cost of commissioning work.

What in return for your money?

And will they ever be worked out? You already understand that the installation cost is not included in the service. Yes, the master will hang the boiler, connect communications to it, fill the system, and bleed out the air. All this takes 3-4 hours and is worth the money because this is real work that requires skills and specific knowledge. This is what they pay for – on average about 15 thousand rubles.

But then the boiler works. It simply works, as the manufacturers promised, conscientiously, stably, and without breakdowns. Do you think warranty boilers often break down? Yes, rarely! What could be out of date before the warranty? Heat exchanger? Pump? Pay? Imagine that if for some reason you called a service engineer, then keep in mind that the service engineer will not initially be on your side. He is obliged to find the cause of the breakdown, and he will look primarily for your fault. And if he doesn’t find it, then at best he will clean the electrodes or replace the gasket.
